Get to know us

Welcome to Base Camp online. We are proud to be part of the Southern Idaho community that we live, work, and play in.

The Wendland family owned and operated two sites in Ketchum and one in Hailey for decades. In 2005, one of the owners stumbled upon the future name for all the locations accidentally by referring to the Hailey location as “my personal base camp; I can’t go anywhere without going there first”. It was at that moment that he decided this would be the consistent name of their three locations. It wasn’t until 2012 that the Wendland family began branding these sites with the Base Camp name. In January 2022 Oasis Stop ‘N Go began operating Base Camps, carrying on the legacy of the Base Camp brand. A new Base Camp Market opens in mid-2024 in Twin Falls.

We are proud to give back to our communities. We contribute to Papoose Club, Sawtooth Botanical Gardens, St. Lukes Foundation, Blaine County Schools, The Chamber of Wood River Valley, Boys & Girls Club of Magic Valley, and many more each year. We are grateful to our customers and employees for the role they play in helping.

We encourage your feedback and welcome the opportunity to improve our operations or complement our people. Thank you for choosing your locally owned and operated Base Camp.

Our Company and how it all started…

Daniel L. Willie believes in providing quality products and services, investing in people, building our communities, and providing facilities that serve our customers every day. Decades have been spent building a reputation by taking care of our customers and communities. In 1979 Dan Willie and a partner formed a partnership to operate Wood River Chevron in Ketchum, Snake River Chevron in Twin Falls and Travelers’ Oasis Truck Plaza (known then as I-80 Mobile). At the time the sites each had 2-bay service stations, sold gasoline, and offered some snacks. The convenience store and travel plaza concepts were just around the corner and our company evolved and continued to grow.
